Yesterday was a good ride, some stiff sections but great descents, great weather as well, bit of a tail wind was useful! I stayed a great little B&B with a lovely view across the Kyle of Tongue to the ruins of Varich Castle. I stayed at a nice hotel last night in Thurso called the Pentland Hotel, good accommodation & food. I drank too much coffee on Monday night & Tuesday, my brain was hyper – active at 01:00hrs, it didn’t help that I’d set my alarm to go off at 05:45hrs so I could load my bike & have breakfast at 06:30hrs as I was meeting Graeme at 07:15hrs for ¬†our ride today. Tuesday 4th October – By train from Inverness to Thurso

Overnight sleeper train from Euston arrives at Inverness at 08:30hrs then I have a two hour wait before boarding the 10:40hrs train to Thurso which arrives around 14:30hrs, I’ve got seat & bike reservations booked. The route up to Thurso is a very scenic one & Thurso rail station is the most northerly station in the UK, the town is also the most northerly on the British mainland.
