I carried on south on NCN78 from Benderloch along the coast with great sandy beaches into Oban, 12 miles away. Oban (Scots Gaelic meaning The Little Bay), despite its small size it’s the largest town between Helensburgh & Fort William, it gets very busy during the tourist season. Friday 13th May – Fort William to Benderloch

For this section I started off with a short ferry ride over to Camusnagaul at 10:00. The ‘ferry’ was in fact a small boat with one crewman named Robert, the boat had a capacity for 10 passengers but there were only 5 of us on it. I stayed in a cheap but ok B&B last night, stored Diana in a woodsmans shed, had a wander around looking at the locks then had a meal of fish & chips in a place run by the Albanian Mafia.
