At the finish – Sunday 4th October – the end of STAGE 3

I started this stage on Tuesday 28th September from Musselburgh, Edinburgh & finishied on Saturday 3rd October in Newcastle  the final number of miles covered up to & including Saturday 3rd October was 224 miles. The bike suffered 0 punctures & no mechanical failures. Once again on daily rides I normally drank at least 2 litres of water per day & consumed numerous chocolate bars, flapjacks & bananas to keep my energy levels up. Sunday 4th October – Home by train from Newcastle

This morning I catch my train home at 09:25hrs from Newcastle to Kings Cross & then across to Liverpool Street by underground  for my train home. I boarded my train ok & got settled in my pre-booked single seat in 1st class, my bike stored securely in the guards van. Saturday 3rd October – Durham to Newcastle

This will be the last ride of this trip & I’m going back to Newcastle ready for the train journey on Sunday. I’ll be taking a different route there to the one I took yesterday most of it on a dedicated cycle route. Leaving Pity Me about 09:30hrs I followed the A167 road along the cycle path for 4 miles to Chester le Street then Birtley I made good time along the smooth surface.
