I landed at Aberdeen harbour around 07:30hrs after a smooth uneventful crossing, it was dark, grey, raining & generally miserable – most likely a normal day for the city of Aberdeen, also known as the Granite City due to the drab grey buildings. After breakfast at my B&B I packed my panniers & loaded up Diana, my ferry wasn’t due to leave Lerwick until 19:00hrs, it was a bright sunny day so I decided to a bit of local riding, visit the museum & the old dock area – Hays Dock. I spent a couple of hours yesterday evening mooching around the town & looked up the house & harbour which feature in the TV drama ‘Shetland’ starring Douglas Henshall as Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez which has aired 3 series on TV.
