I spent yesterday evening at the Premier Inn hotel & then today had a late start as my train didn’t leave until 13:40 from Glasgow Central station only a five minute ride away. Traffic in the city was light & getting to the station was easy using the marked local cycle routes. Glasgow seems to be a very cycle friendly city & car drivers mindful of cyclists as well. After a not so good night in the B&B I had an early breakfast & was on the road by 08:45hrs, once again the weather was fine & sunny. I carried on south on NCN78 from Benderloch along the coast with great sandy beaches into¬†Oban, 12 miles away. Oban (Scots Gaelic meaning The Little Bay), despite its small size it’s the largest town between Helensburgh & Fort William, it gets very busy during the tourist season.
